Before your solo trip make sure to plan ahead of time by doing your research, booking flights, planning your daily itinerary and even looking for places to stay, eat and visit. Having a plan is a great way to make the most out of your trip so you don’t end up wasting time.

Plus planning ahead is ideal for people with anxiety. With a plan in place, you don’t have to worry about making decisions on the spot. And since you’re travelling alone make sure to research local customs, safety considerations as well as traditions you need to consider.

Let your family & friends know your whereabouts

Although travelling alone can be such a great experience, it can also be quite dangerous considering you’re all alone in a different place. So always stay connected with friends and family and let them know where you’re going, what you’re doing, where you’re staying, who you’re with and so on.

A great safety travel tip to practice is sending your family and friends your itinerary, accommodation details, and taxi cab information, sharing your location when you’re out and simply updating them from time to time.

Always be aware of your surroundings during your travel

Since you’re travelling alone, you have no one to watch over you while you use your phone, zone out and even let your mind wander. So always be alert, especially in crowded places and sketchy areas in the city.

When out always (1) place your bag inform of you and keep your belongings secured and safe, (2) don’t leave your wallet and phone in your pockets and store them in your bag, (3) stray away from crowded areas or dangerous areas in the city, (4) avoid using expensive accessories and clothing, (5) try not to draw too much attention to yourself and (6) trust your instinct when something feels off.

During the day, there will be police officers patrolling, there will be locals and in general, there will be tons of people so you’ll be less likely to face dangerous interactions like hold-ups and so on.
